Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain-valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of Himachal Pradesh. The stunning vistas of the Pin & Spiti valley are spell binding and the 800+ year monasteries have many stories to tell.
The rustic mountain roads take you to the last village on the Indian border and the highest post office in India. While locals are welcoming and helpful, one cannot miss gorging on hot thupka in the cold weather. The most adventurous route from Kaza to Manali is the highlight of the trip. Tour Itinerary
DAY 1 (Sep 8)
Reach Chandigarh
We will have a briefing session followed by dinner in the evening
Hotel – J W Marriott, Chandigarh.
DAY 2 (Sep 9)
Chandigarh to Shimla – 120 kms
First day of the drive, we will reach Shimla. Stay at a boutique property in the hills.
Hotel – Oberoi Cecil (or similar)
DAY 3 (Sep 10)
Shimla to Kalpa – 230 kms
Enjoy the beautiful scenic drive to Kalpa through lush green mountains adorned with pine trees. Stay at a boutique property nestled in the mountains with a view of Kailash Kinner mountain
Hotel – Kinner Villa.
DAY 4 (Sep 11)
Kalpa to Tabo – 170 kms
A long day, driving through the narrow & winding roads, Witness the change in the surroundings from lush green mountains to the barren mountains of Spiti valley. Reach Tabo a quaint little village and visit one of the oldest monastery before you check-in and call it a day!
Hotel – Maitreya Regency or similar.
DAY 5 (Sep 12)
Tabo to Kaza – 120 kms
We drive from Tabo to Kaza via Pin valley and visit the Mudh village. Explore the stunning vistas and views of the Pin valley.
Lunch will be at Pin Valley.
Hotel – Dewachen Retreat (or similar).
DAY 6/7/8 (Sep 13-15)
Kaza – 3 days break
We will spend three days in Kaza driving around to visit the famous Key Monastery, Kibber Village, Hikkim, highest post office in India, Chichum bridge and the many such sights while spending some time with the locals!
Hotel – Dewachen Retreat (or similar).
DAY 9 (Sep 16)
Kaza to Manali – 183 kms
Today is the last and longest drive of the trip – and the most adventurous route. The wheels will have to roll really early around 5.00 am. The most scenic, and also the most treacherous off-road route where you will drive through gorges and waterfalls.
