Spiti Valley Drive

The mountains are calling…

Trip Overview

High up in the Himalayas, where the air is thin and silence speaks volumes, Spiti welcomes you with open skies, centuries-old monasteries filled with history, narrow winding roads leading to the edge of India, and the world’s highest post office quietly doing its job at dizzying altitudes.

The people here are as warm as the thukpa they serve, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. And if you’re looking for adventure, the route from Kaza to Manali will test your spirit and reward you with memories for a lifetime. Experience every twist and turn with Embarq by your side.

Day 4 Kalpa to Tabo

After a long day on narrow, winding roads, watch the landscape shift from green mountains to the rugged, barren beauty of Spiti Valley. Arrive in Tabo, a quiet little village, and visit one of the oldest monasteries before checking in and calling it a day.

Day 5 Tabo to Kaza

Over two days in Kaza, we’ll explore nearby spots like the famous Key Monastery, the charming Kibber Village, Hikkim with India’s highest post office, Chichum Bridge, and more sights, while spending time with the locals.

Day 8 Kaza to Manali

Today’s route is the final drive — the longest and most adventurous. We’ll start early at 5 am, heading out on rugged off-road terrain that takes us through gorges and past waterfalls, offering a raw and unforgettable glimpse of the Himalayas.

Day 9Depart from Manali

Travel back home with memories for a lifetime

I love driving, always have ever since I got my Driver’s License in my early twenties. And I thoroughly enjoy road trips. Over the past years, I’ve heard a lot about the expanded and modern road network in India but have not been able to travel much. I’m looking forward to driving from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
